This ride begins on Route 250, which can be very busy depending on the time of day, but quickly changes to a lightly-traveled back road. Old Ballard rolls past some nice country estates, some open fields, and crosses several streams. Old Ballard Road has some rough pavement in a few sections, but this is a small price to pay for the dearth of traffic. The route then continues on to Owensville Road, and then connects back to Barracks Road for the way back into town. As an option, you can take a right at Old Garth Road at the bottom of the big hill to get a more interesting and twisty route back to 250 (and one that avoids Emmet Street). It's a great ride, and easy to do if you don't have much time.
